Uma Conspiração sobre os Teóricos da Conspiração

Um artigo de 2008 de uns senhores chamados Cass R. Sunstein e Adrian Vermeule tece algumas considerações no mínimo perigosas sobre aqueles que são apelidados de "Teóricos da Conspiração". Este artigo vai ainda mais longe ao propor algumas formas de desacreditar e infiltrar grupos que contestem a versão oficial de factos relativos a eventos "polémicos" tais como os ataques do 11 de Setembro.

"Many millions of people hold conspiracy theories; they believe that powerful people have worked together in order to withhold the truth about some important practice or some terrible event. (...) Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law."

"Because those who hold conspiracy theories typically suffer from a “crippled epistemology,” in accordance with which it is rational to hold such theories, the best response consists in cognitive infiltration of extremist groups."
